Goal progress alerts

Get a private weekly warning when measured goal progress falls behind plan time.

Plan and accessStarter

How it works

Notice a goal falling behind early

Goal progress alerts help an eligible teammate follow one measured goal without opening its detail workspace simply to check pace. Choose an active or at-risk goal with measurable outcomes, set a weekly check and decide how far progress may fall behind elapsed plan time before a warning is useful. The check compares the goal’s weighted outcome progress with the linear time elapsed between its start and end dates. A private in-app notification appears only when the gap is greater than the chosen tolerance and the recipient remains eligible.

01

What it covers

Choose a goal, a local check time and a progress-gap tolerance; receive an in-app alert only when the supported pace rule is triggered.

02

In practice

The alert follows current goal outcomes, lifecycle, Projects permissions, plan access and notification preferences on every run. An on-track result or a goal without meaningful measurements does not produce a misleading warning.

When to use it

Useful situations

  • Keep an onboarding improvement goal under a regular personal review.
  • Notice a material gap between measured delivery and the agreed period.
  • Use a warning to start a goal conversation with current outcome evidence.

A working path

How the work moves

  1. Choose a measurable goal

Open a goal that is active or at risk and review its current non-cancelled outcomes. Confirm that the targets and progress inputs are meaningful before adding an alert; a schedule cannot correct an unclear goal definition.

  2. Set your weekly check

Choose the supported weekday, local hour and progress-gap tolerance. Read the dates against the workspace timezone. The current expected pace is linear elapsed time, so choose a tolerance that fits the way this goal is planned.

  3. Review any warning

When a private notification arrives, open the exact goal and inspect its current outcomes, blockers and weekly history. Use the evidence to discuss the next action. The alert does not automatically change confidence, ownership or goal status.

Illustrative scenario

Tracking an onboarding goal

A project lead sets a weekly pace warning for an active onboarding goal. When its measured outcomes fall materially behind the elapsed plan time, the notification opens the goal for a review of blockers and the next delivery decision.

Before you start

What to check

  • The first delivery channel is private in-app alerts. Email, external channels and management-wide subscriptions are outside the current workflow.
  • Expected progress is linear. A goal with planned late-period delivery can legitimately trail that pace, so interpret the warning in context.

Questions about Goal progress alerts

Useful details before you start.

All questions
Will the alert mark a goal at risk automatically?

No. It presents a warning for review. Goal state and confidence still follow the normal update workflow.

Can I watch every goal?

The current controls allow up to twenty personal goal alerts and require an eligible active or at-risk goal with measured outcomes.
